Cycling

Cycle rides could be organised at any time of year but not usually during winter. None of us are that keen about cycling in heavy rain or strong winds! They usually start from locations within or a short distance from the centre of York. We have organised cycling weekends and holidays in the past.

We try to find a pace that allows all riders to stay relatively close together so that they can chat. Cyclists of all abilities are welcome.

Important Note: Please ensure you wear appropriate clothing and that your bike is in road-worthy condition. Everyone is encouraged to wear a helmet and are responsible for their own safety and that of the group.

Thursday Evening Rides

Thursday evening rides are occasionally arranged from May until the end of August. They are usually under 25 miles in length and start about 6:30pm. We aim to get home before sunset. You should bring lights for your bike on these rides.

Saturday Rides

In the past we have arranged Saturday rides which were usually between 40 & 50 miles. They were more suited to experienced riders. These may be offered in future on a ad-hoc basis according to demand.
