Walking is at the heart of YOG and we do loads of it! From walking on a summer evening by the Ouse to bagging a snowy munro in the Cairngorms, there’s a full programme of walks on offer all year round to suit all abilities, and all weathers!
Sunday Walks
Sunday Walks are generally between 8 and 12 miles in length, start around 10am and usually have finished by 4pm. They start from locations less than an hour’s drive away from York.
We usually meet near the entrance to Nunnery Lane Car Park in York about 8:50am. Here, car drivers happy to give lifts can pickup members who would like a lift. We aim to depart for the walk’s start point at 9am. Alternatively, you can make your own way straight to the walk’s start point. However, sometimes there is limited parking and/or parking charges at the walk’s start point so we encourage car sharing.
Tuesday Evening Walks
Tuesday Evening Walks are arranged May until the end of August. They are generally less than 6 miles in length and usually start from locations within walking or cycling distance from the centre of York about 7pm. We aim to be back before sunset.
